 Multimap - Harringay Ladder

The Harringay Ladder is one of the premier locations in north London. On a map the twenty roads which join Green Lanes and Wightman Road in London N4 and N8 actually look like a ladder. The community atmosphere in the area is second to none, with annual street parties taking place among the twenty roads in either nearby Finsbury Park or the parkland at the top of Fairfax and Falkland roads.
The roads which make up the Harringay ladder are: Umfreville, Burgoyne, Cavendish, Duckett, Mattison, Pemberton, Wareham, Seymour, Hewitt, Allison, Beresford, Effingham, Fairfax, Falkland, Frobisher, Lausanne, Hampden, Raleigh, and Sydney, and Lothair roads north and south.

Features of The Ladder

• The Harringay Passage which runs parallel to Green Lanes and Wightman Road provides a quick shortcut between the Ladder Roads.
• The New River, which was opened in 1613 to supply London with a new source of clean water runs down from Hewitt Road and spans the roads south and eventually finishes at the Round Pool in Islington.
• On the west side of Wightman Road there is a nature reserve.
• The houses on the Harringay Ladder were originally built to accommodate the servants who worked for the wealthier citizens of west London.
• Harringay, the local district is often confused with the Borough of Haringey which spans a much larger area.
